Shredder guide
When looking at shred size there is an easy rule; the smaller the particles, the more security you have. As of 1st September 2012 there is a new European security standard for shredding or destruction of all types of data media, the DIN 66399. Discover the particle sizes according to DIN 66399 below.

P1 – Strip width max. 12mm. Suitable for general documents.

P2 – Strip width max. 6mm. Suitable for internal documents.

P3 – Particle size max. 320mm². Suitable for sensitive and confidential data, as well as personal data, e.g., tax documents, private address data, etc.

P4 – Particle size max. 160mm². Suitable for sensitive and confidential data, as well as personal data, e.g., pay slips, medical reports, etc.

P5 – Particle size max. 30mm². Suitable for data containing confidential information with fundamental importance, e.g., patents, competitor analysis, etc.

P6 – Particle size max. 10mm². Suitable for confidential documentation requiring extraordinary security precautions, e.g., research documents.

P7 – Particle size max. 5mm². Suitable for strictly confidential data with highest level of security precautions, e.g., secret service documents, etc.
