Why is A5 no longer half the size of A4?

Did the tweak in paper sizes affect the productivity of print rooms across the UK?

Whilst having an international paper size puts everyone on the same page worldwide, did the tweak in paper sizes affect the productivity of print rooms across the UK?

In years gone by you would have been able to cut A4 in half and it become A5, but that is no longer the case.  Since ISO 216 was formalised, paper sizes in the UK were brought in line with the international paper sizes.  Meaning if you cut a piece of A4 in half it won’t be exactly A5 and will need an additional cut to make it exact.  A4 being 210mm x 297mm and A5 now being 148mm x 210mm.

All the paper guillotines we sell (from an Ideal 48 and above) have paper sizes pre-programmed into them to make the operators life easy.  For example the pre-programmed paper sizes A3, A4, A5 etc.  As well as these, you can programme in specific sizes you need to regularly cut to save time.

If you need guidance with what paper guillotine would work best for your needs then please do not hesitate to contact us.
